Padnote: iPad Look-Alike Sketch Book from Japan (with video)
If you’re a hardcore geek, the Padnote is a sketch pad that has an iPad-like cover and 64 sheets of drawing paper with grid lines and a wide gray border. Birthday Tribute to Andy Warhol
Artist and author Judy Rey Wasserman (@JudyRey on Twitter) of Southampton, N.Y., posted a tribute to Andy Warhol on her blog. She describes Warhol, who was born August 6, 1928, and died February 22, 1987, as “one of the greatest artistic influences on her work.” In honor of Warhol’s birthday, Ms. Wasserman posted her first prototype altered version of a basic Essence Portrait of Warhol, which will become part of a presentation and work she is creating about social media. I found her bio quite fascinating, and I think you will, too. Brought to our attention by @JulieFarin.
Unplugging for Digital Down Day
This post by John Jantsch on the Duct Tape Marketing blog suggests we all take a “digital down” day this Friday, August 13. His idea is to not Tweet, Friend, Post, Email or even use a computer or mobile device for 24 hours. If he had his way, the idea would take hold and every Friday the 13th would be a digital down day. Could you do it? He gives instructions on how people can Tweet their intentions to either support the idea or not – in cases where it’s not possible to disconnect completely or disconnect at all for fear of getting killed by the boss. Do you think you could do it?

OK Go – This Too Shall Pass – Rube Goldberg Machine version – Official
We found this video this week as a result of a post on Bloomberg Business Week’s Brand New Day section. The post was written by Helen Walters a few months back. Walters post talks about how State Farm paid to have a place at the creative development table as the video for the song This Too Shall Pass by OK Go was storyboarded. The post talks about how disabling the Embed function for YouTube and other videos can turn out to be a terrible mistake. Fortunately, it was not disabled for this video, which is highly creative and, as Walters points out, had more than 1.4 million views in less than 48 hours and now has had more than 15.7 million views since March 1. The post roll State Farm ad is obvious, but the State Farm van, which “kicks off” the video and the subtle appearance of the State Farm teddy bear, not so much.
