Welcome to Volume 8 of Market It Write’s Monday Madeleines, our collection of interesting, funny and sometimes controversial content we encountered in the past week.

We hope you’ll share some amazing content you’ve found and that you won’t forget to leave a comment, as we’d really love your feedback.

Stay Puft Marshmallows from Ghostbusters Made Real
Fans of the 1980s comedy Ghostbusters may be rejoicing that their dreams have finally become reality, with Stay Puft brand marshmallows. Eater.com reports that these officially licensed collectibles contain over 100 mg of caffeine each and come in a keepsake “marshmallowy-feeling box.” Thanks to @AnthODotCom for calling our attention to this one.

Four Social Media Marketing Lessons from Jerry Lewis
With Labor Day and the annual muscular dystrophy (MDA) telethon approaching, it seems fitting to draw a correlation between Jerry’s amazing work for MDA over the years and today’s social media marketing environment. From @ZahidaKhan for stimulating my sweet tooth.

15 Things You (Probably) Don’t Know About Outer Space (Picture)
Some interesting factoids here compiled from some presumably reliable reference materials. Our solar system is pretty fascinating when you think about it, but did you know that astronauts can’t burp in space? The moon is slowly drifting away from earth, which could explain the recent comment on Facebook I saw that claimed the moon was getting smaller.

Interactive Twitter Murals
The Canadian Tourism Commission would have to get two thumbs up for innovative marketing when it decided to install interactive Twitter murals in strategic cities across the United States (including New York and Chicago) that displayed tweets and pics related to Canadian travel in real time. Passers-by can use iPhone-like navigation to zoom, scroll and otherwise check out these human-sized displays. Seems like a very innovative way to blend traditional advertising with social media, and I suspect we’ll be seeing more of this in the future. Courtesy of @SpreadingJam.

Senior Moment: Tweetin’ Grannies and Gramps Outpace Social Whippersnappers
A post on FastCompany.com about Pew’s recent research findings from its Internet and American Life Project survey indicates the fastest-growing demographic currently adopting social media is those over 50. I guess you’d be right in saying then that social media is maturing and coming of age. If your prospects fall into an older demographic, don’t make the mistake of thinking they won’t be involved with social media. Thanks to @Lucas_Wyrsch.

How Much Is Your Brain Worth?
A lighthearted joke at why the cost of a transplant using a man’s brain was so much more expensive than one using a woman’s brain, followed up by some interesting scientific findings about the differences in the brains of men and women. Also supports the theory that “Size doesn’t matter” – at least not when it comes to brains. Thanks to @womanzworld.

Video of the Week

Cat Walks on Two Front Legs
The video of the woman placing a cat named Lola in the trash went viral, and we don’t need to relive that experience here. However, we did find this interesting video about a cat named Lola who gets around using only her two front legs that’s good for a smile or three.

Did you enjoy this week’s features? Leave a comment and share your thoughts, your favorite tea, a madeleine recipe or even your favorite joke. No over-sharing here. (But if you somehow cross that line, we’ll let you know.)
