Welcome to the final week in May before the long Memorial Day weekend and unofficial kick off to summer. Here are a few choice morsels we put together for this week that we call our Monday Madeleines. We hope you’ll enjoy them, find something share-worthy and leave a comment.
19 Things You Didn’t Know About Star Wars [INFOGRAPHIC]
Here’s an interesting infographic about the Star Wars movies, with plenty of things you might not have known. For example, did you know (according to this source, anyway) that the person doing the voice of Yoda is the same who does Miss Piggy’s voice (Frank Oz)?. Thanks to @Flipbooks (Blair Semenoff) for sharing this.
Pet Abuse Registry May Raise Awareness of Animal, Family Abuse
Suffolk County, New York is launching a registry for animal abusers which could also help to identify potential violence against women and children. Modeled after the sex offender registry that protects children, the new registry goes live this week. Thanks to @SharonHayes for bringing this step in the right direction to our attention.
Social Media: Preparedness 101: Zombie Apocalypse
The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) recently featured this blog post on the steps you need to take to prepare for a zombie apocalypse (no, I’m not kidding). The real beauty of the post is that it takes what might seem an absurd idea and uses it to convey its message about emergency preparedness. As the post says, “You may laugh now, but when it happens you’ll be happy you read this…” After the kind of spring we’ve had this year, being prepared for any emergency has to be a very good thing. Brought to our attention by @TalentZoo.
Video of the Week
Worst cover ever! *The final count down*
We’ve been in the habit of focusing on some amazing content since starting Monday Madeleines. So why not feature some of the worst content you might ever imagine? Nearly 3 million viewers must have enjoyed it. All we can say is “Don’t quit your day job!” Thanks to @scottparent, who says this video made him snort his coffee and who blames (credits) @zarzoso (Manuel Sanvictores) for the find.
Did you enjoy this week’s features? Which were your favorites? Leave a comment and share your thoughts, your favorite tea, a madeleine recipe or even your favorite joke. No over-sharing here. (But if you somehow cross that line, we’ll let you know.)
