Together, we will find a cure.
The Alliance for Lupus Research (ALR) supports research that improves the lives of people with lupus in the near term – not in the next 20 to 30 years. ALR’s Board of Directors pays all operating costs. As a result, 100% of all contributors fund targeted research with potential for quick translation from the laboratory to the bedside.
An innovative approach
The ALR’s highly competitive peer-review process ensures we fund projects with the potential to help people with lupus sooner – not later. We encourage collaboration at our annual scientific meeting, where funded investigators share data and work together to advance their work even faster. Benchmarks and a two-year funding cycle also help ensure swift results.
Leveraging donations
This research model makes the most of donations from friends like you. The ALR helps researchers get the data they need to attract additional funding. As a result, several ALR-funded projects have secured millions more from government and private industry sources. This springboard effect launches scientists to the next level of funding and frees ALR grants to support new promising projects.
